Aquamarine is a pale-blue to light-green variety of beryl. This piece is translucent and a very exceptional medium blue color.

The name aquarine comes from aqua (Latin for 'water'), and marine, deriving from marina (Latin for 'of the sea'). Ancient Romans believed that aquamarines could protect people who were traveling.
